Termite swarmers are the most alarming spring discovery — reproductive termites emerging from walls and foundations signal an active colony. Carpenter ant swarmers emerging from inside wall voids are the second most common spring concern. Both indicate established colonies that have been present for years. Spring is also when ant colonies become active and begin trailing indoors as they seek food and water.
For seasonal mosquito control, the first treatment should be scheduled in May in most US regions — before peak mosquito season begins in June. Mosquito populations build through late May, and starting treatment before peak pressure provides better control than reacting after the population has peaked.
